Poll: Voters Strongly Disapprove Trump’s Handling of Iran War

A new MRG-commissioned Michigan Poll® finds that nearly half of Michigan voters disapprove of President Trump’s handling of the Iran War. Conducted March 16–18, 2026, the poll shows 49% disapprove, including 39% who strongly disapprove, while 37% approve. The results reflect sharp political divisions, with most Republicans approving and most Democrats disapproving, while independent voters also lean negative on the President’s handling of the conflict. The findings closely mirror Trump’s overall job approval numbers in Michigan and suggest that international instability, rising gas prices, and voter concerns heading into the midterms may remain closely linked.

Spring 2026 State of the State of Public Opinion: Plurality of Michigan Voters believe State is on the Wrong Track

The Spring 2026 MRG Michigan Poll found that Michigan voters remain deeply divided on the direction of the country and state, with infrastructure, jobs, health care, and cost of living emerging as top concerns. Conducted March 16–18 among 1,012 likely voters, the poll also showed sharply partisan views of President Trump and Governor Whitmer, while underscoring the importance of independents and issue-based voting heading into the general election.

Fall 2025 State of the State of Public Opinion: Voters' Outlook on Direction of Country Polarizes, Michigan gets a Downgrade

The Fall 2025 Michigan Poll® shows polarization on the nation’s direction, with 58% of voters saying the U.S. is on the wrong track while only 29% say it’s headed in the right direction. Views of Michigan also turned negative again, with a plurality (43%) now believing the state is on the wrong track compared to 38% who see it heading in the right direction. Poll: Michigan Voters’ View on Immigration up Substantially Under President Trump

The Spring 2025 MRG Michigan Poll® shows a sharp shift in voter sentiment on immigration, with 50% of likely Michigan voters now approving of President Trump’s handling of the issue—more than double the 21% who approved of President Biden’s approach in 2024. The data highlights strong Republican support (92% approval) and deep Democratic opposition (82% disapproval), while Independents are evenly split. Regional and demographic divides are also evident, with support highest in Northern Lower Michigan and among men. As immigration and border security remain top concerns, these results signal the issue's growing influence in Michigan’s political landscape.

Poll: No Honeymoon for Musk, but Voters Support Creation of State-Level DOGE

Elon Musk’s leadership of the federal Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) receives a 55% disapproval rating from Michigan voters, with support split sharply along party lines—Republicans largely approve, while Democrats overwhelmingly disapprove. Personal opinions of Musk mirror those findings, with 55% holding a negative view of him overall. Despite this, a majority of voters (53%) support creating a Michigan-based DOGE to improve state government operations. Support is strongest among middle-aged voters, men, and residents of West Michigan and the Saginaw/Flint/Bay City region.

Michigan voters are showing improved optimism about the direction of the country and state, with confidence in Michigan's path turning positive for the first time in five years. President Trump’s national approval remains steady, with strong support from Republicans. Governor Whitmer’s job approval has climbed to 57%, her highest in five years, with strong support from women and voters in urban counties. Inflation, jobs, and infrastructure are the top issues on voters’ minds statewide.
